a song of aging

two cents and a quarter century

april comes, another year behind me
rainfall, rattles down the glass
slow down, a blurry, crowded freeway
speed up, how long will this last?

a quarter century has come and gone
and i’m still learning how to stand
when i fall, when i fall, when i fall
you’re making a new man

today, enough troubles for tomorrow
no map, just fuel for the ride
and i, am taken by your mystery
and you, are stealing all my pride

break down, you know it’s better this way
take down, these walls of stone inside
fill me, with something beautiful and
mold me, like the potter and the clay

april comes, another year behind me
your love, is flowing though my mind
white flag, is waving in the morning
your peace, is rising like the sun
